Google's Matt Cutts: We've Penalized A Guest Blogging Network
The internet is abuzz this week after news of Google's stand-off with MyBlogGuest. Support for the guest blogging community has been strong and Ann Smarty replied to the penalty thanking her community and calling out Matt Cutts for his "PR game". Cutts then went on to say that blogs associated with the community including those using its services may be hit next and some have already reported ranking losses.
On Twitter’s 8th birthday, find your first Tweet
Twitter turned 8 this week and, to celebrate, announced a new tool designed to help users find and share their first tweet. Many celebrities and notable persons got in on the fun and Twitter shared a feed of some memorable first tweets on their blog including the tweet pictured above showing Secretary of State Madelaine Albright's first tweet in Sept of last year.
New Social Media Research That Could Change Your Strategy
This article covers the findings of new social media research demonstrating how consumers use social media as well as how they prefer to engage with companies. There is good news for Facebook as the younger audience is shown to be continuing to use the dominant social media despite recent suggestions that younger groups were not adopting the system as readily as their predecessors. The power of pictures is also proven as numbers indicate that Instagram is the fastest growing social media.

I’m surprised to see the rift between Matt Cuts and MyGuestBlog extending to the level it is. A lot of legitimate blogs can be hurt by this.
