Google Analytics is a Leading Statistical and Action Oriented Marketing Visitor Tracking Software

Google Analytics (GA) formerly known as Urchin, is a free service offered by Google to help measure website traffic at a level that is not currently found in any standard website statistics program.

Google Analytics are considered one of the most accurate statistical packages available because implementation involves placing a small piece of java script on every page of a website. (Because of this requirement, however, it is also sometimes installed improperly) Once in place the system uses this piece of code to measure many things such as:

• Which pages are busiest
• What your traffic sources are (search engines, referring sites, direct hits etc)
• Where people are coming to your site from
• Which pages are being visited and exited most
• Plus much more!

Perhaps the most valuable benefit of Google Analytics is that it allows you to configure and measure website ‘goals’. For example – suppose your ultimate goal is to have someone purchase your widget. By placing a piece of code on your final destination or ‘goal’ you are now able to begin tracking many variables to do with ecommerce related activity. (you can even measure lead volumes by setting goals too!).
