How To Add A User In Google Webmaster Tools / Search Console

How To Add A User In Search Console

As someone who works in SEO, it's a request that is made to me on a weekly basis. So, I decided to write a blog including visuals that will show you how to add someone to Google Search Console (formerly Google Webmaster Tools).

Google Webmaster Tools or now Google Search Console is an essential part of any SEO's toolkit. It can give you insights into the health of your site and a whole lot more. For an extensive guide to Google Webmaster Tools, now renamed Search Console, I highly Recommend this eBook!

Let's get to it!

A Three-Step Guide to Adding a New User in Google Search Console / Google Webmaster Tools.

1). Login and select a property using this link and draw your eye to the top right-hand corner of the screen. Click on "Users and Property Owners" as highlighted below:

2). Now simply click "Add a New User."

3). You will be asked to enter their email address. There is an option to give "full" or "restricted" access as seen in the screenshot below:

Generally, site owners are those who have complete control over the website. This means they have access to all the information, data, and actions that are happening on the website.

Full users have similar permissions as site owners. Although they have access to all the information and take most site actions, they are unable to provide access to the website and add users or owners.

As the name itself says, a restricted user has more restriction when it comes to permissions for the website.

Visit this link to get the full scoop on full vs. restricted access. I've also taken a screenshot from that page and included it below:
