While there are countless ways to help improve your SEO, here are five basic tips and tricks that you may find useful:

  1. Publish Strong Content

Time and time again, it has been confirmed that publishing high-quality and authoritative content on your website is the strongest means of obtaining high rankings in Google search. Ensure that your content is rich with your target keywords, contains proper header tags, utilizes images, sub-headers, includes bullet points where necessary, and provides a good user experience.

By producing quality content geared specifically towards your target audience, you will likely increase the ranking of your website, thereby increasing your website’s traffic, and ultimately your website’s domain authority. With strong content that positions you as the subject matter authority of your market, you will increase your chances of ranking higher in Google search, thus bringing your website more visibility as it becomes easier for new users to discover.

Identifying target keywords and keyword phrases relevant to both your web pages and users’ interests is important. Each authoritative content page will rank for the target keywords that are present on-page. Therefore it is vital for your SEO to select and use specific targeted keywords throughout your content on each page to ensure that each page is ranking for relevant Google searches. Repeat your keyword throughout your content tastefully and be authoritative in your writing.

  1. Regularly Updating Content

We have established the importance of having strong content on your website in the point above. But what is also important is frequently publishing new content on your website.  Publishing new content regularly is a great way to demonstrate relevance in your niche market. Keep things fresh and audit your content on a regular basis, updating it where necessary.

Writing blogs regularly is a great way to inject fresh content into your website easily. This new blog content should be rich with keyword phrases and contain the latest industry trends and news. Blog content can be short and to-the-point focused on the specific topic and keyword you are targeting. Interlink your blog to your service pages for best results.

  1. Metadata

Each page on your website contains a space between the <head> tags to insert metadata, or information related to the contents of your webpage. As your site changes over time, it is important for you to review and update your metadata where necessary. Two important types of metadata include title metadata and description metadata.

Title metadata is the most important type of metadata for your website. It displays the webpage titles at the top of the web browser window as well as the headline within the Google search results.

Description metadata is sort of like a window into your website. It is content that the web browser may use to describe the content of the particular webpage. It is important to keep this concise and appealing to users, usually one-two sentences in length.

  1. Maintain a Link-Worthy Site

By maintaining a website full of authoritative content, rich with target keywords, which helps users find the information that they are looking for, will likely attract other websites to link to it. By gaining these links from other websites, your website will be viewed as more trustworthy in Google’s eyes, thereby allowing you to rank in Google more easily.

If your website has strong content that users find helpful, you will attract links. If you are creating links of your own, always use your target keyword phrase as your in-text link. For example, “dental implants” has much more value than “click here” from an SEO perspective, so if you want to rank for dental implants, use “dental implants” as your in-text link copy. Be sure to always utilize a descriptive link by linking your keyword phrases in your body text, as this will not only improve your website’s SEO,  but it also adds value to your users, including those with disabilities or who are using screen-readers.

  1. Alt-Tags

Alternative descriptions, or alt-tags, are a key component of SEO. Be sure to always describe the images and/or videos on your website with alt-tags. This is important because it allows search engines like Google to locate your webpage and helps users who use text-only web browsers or screen-readers. Alt-tags are also useful in the event that an image or video on your website cannot be loaded properly due to some sort of network or IT error. In events like this, the alt-tag will display instead of the broken image or video. Alt-tags can also help by boosting your website’s search engine rankings with keyword inclusion and can help your website's images display in Google image search results as well.

These are just a few things that can help your website rank organically in search results on Google. If you are interested in learning more about how TechWyse can help your website rank using SEO, feel free to reach out to us for more information.
