This Week: Twitter, Google, Facebook, and More!

Internet marketing news and updates

Happy Tuesday!

There are many things involved in the growth of any business online. One of the most crucial factors is keeping up to date with the latest trends and updates.

So, here are five of the most recent and important updates from this week of internet marketing we have compiled for you.

Twitter Tests Voting On Tweets

As we all know, Facebook provides us with the option to react to any post; including: like, care, love, haha, wow, sad and angry. LinkedIn has also taken a similar approach with similar response icons.

TikTok and Instagram try to keep things simple with a heart button, and YouTube has a like and dislike icon on their videos. Now, Twitter has announced the introduction of an up and down vote feature on its platform, available for replies to tweets. The experiment will only take place on iOS.

You will see an up and down arrow on each Tweet once this comes into effect. Twitter said that the down arrow does not indicate a ‘dislike’ button. To learn more about the latest feature, read the entire article linked above.

Google Adds New Search Result Explainers, Which Outline Why You’re Seeing Each Result

Google has come up with a handy update for general users and marketers. They have added a new element to its ‘About This Result’ panels in search results that will provide more context about each result you see. This includes a short overview of why it’s being shown in response to your query.

You will find the three dots menu next to most search results. When you click on the menu you’ll be able to access a new summary page that provides more details about why that webpage has been shown to you.

As the notes included in it are not detailed, their SEO research value is likely not that significant; however they do cover some of the major reasons why Google ranks its result page. It’s more of a general overview rather than an in-depth SEO explainer. In addition to this, Google says that the latest results listing will include tips on refining your results, which will improve a users’ search experience.

Twitter’s Testing New Vocal Effects Options for Spaces, Which Could Help to Reduce Speaker Anxiety

Many of us dislike hearing our own voice in a recording, as it typically sounds a bit different than how we think we sound. This can cause some anxiety for people who are taking part in virtual interviews or audio chats.

Twitter is testing voice-changing options that will be added to Twitter Space. It will enable you to add filters to your voice through a variety of effects. Some may not want this, but for those who wish to change how they sound, this is handy. To check out more about this upcoming update, read on!
