Back in the day, it was true that the more keywords you used - the better you’d rank on Google. Once people caught onto this, many took advantage of it in an effort to outrank their competition. That all changed after the 2011 Panda algorithm update, after which Google advised that website’s not use Keyword stuffing as it offers no real search value to users.

The 2013 Hummingbird algorithm update was also huge for Google, as it allowed users to type more of a ‘natural’ query and Google would match it to content that was better geared towards what they were looking for. Many say it marks to shift in businesses putting out more human content. Today there’s a lot of evidence that Keyword stuffing continues to negatively affect Google’s ranking factor, as we all know Google places a big emphasis on User Experience.

Google Launches ‘Shops’ Section in Mobile Search Results

Google has started off 2022 by adding a ‘Shops’ section to mobile search results which will show the top 3 (can be expanded to 10) options for shops when users conduct a mobile search. Right now it is currently only available in the U.S but is a significant update as it shows that Google is continuing to expand its shopping section for results.

Google has said this will impact organic search the most, which is important to note. If your business doesn't rank well organically this may make it more difficult to be seen. Since 88% of people that conduct local searches on their phones end up visiting the store within a week - this can have a significant impact.

Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO): 8 Ways To Get Started

Your conversion rate is calculated by the number of conversions divided by the total number of visitors and then multiplied by 100. This means the higher your number of visitors that become conversions, the better your conversion rate.
