Internet Marketing March 22nd, 2010
In last week’s post I spoke about various tips and tricks to help improve search engine optimization. Many companies turn to search optimization companies for these types of tasks but it is my opinion that the more business owners know about the subject the better chance we all have at success! In case you missed it make sure you have a read!
Can you believe it? Facebook took over the number one spot in site traffic in March! An incredible ride considering how far away Facebook was just a year ago.
The main difference to the business owner however, is that people are still steering to Google to actually ‘search’ for things while Facebook has become more of a virtual hangout to interact. Just in case you don’t know already though – yes you can advertise on Facebook!
One of the biggest hot buttons we have been hearing over the last year is the huge shift to search using mobile phones. What this has done is bred further development to banner and content network advertising. Google talked about the future of display advertising last week including more ways to purchase ads, and ways to maximize the creativity factors. Google Adwords also announced the ability to open up advertising to YouTube channels at a much higher level.
In a monumental decision, Google announced today that they will no longer support the censorship of their search engine for mainland China. Instead they have chosen to forward the mainland .CN domain to the closest domain located in Hong Kong. (.hk)
We found a lot of helpful information for people that want to understand how social media can be applied in a business context. This also included some helpful articles to learn how Google Buzz and Yelp can be used for business in practical terms. We also read about a cool thing Lays is doing to promote using Flickr. Highly recommended readings! Oh – and while we are talking about social media we may as say Happy 4th Birthday to Twitter!
One more week left in March! I can smell the hot dogs and popcorn already for the upcoming baseball season!
