87% Surveyed Feel Blogging Helps SEO

We finally found a really helpful blog post on the Yahoo! blog. Some interesting stats;

 

  • A TopRank survey of 326 marketing pros indicated that 87% of respondents said blogging has ‘successfully increased measurable  SEO objectives.”
  • Searches done on search engines jumped 50% from 2008 to 2009.
  • People aged 8-18 are spending 7.5 hours per day with electronic media. The breakdown in minutes:
    • Television – 270 minutes
    • Music – 151 minutes
    • Video games – 73
    • Texting – 90
    • Computing – 89
    • Mobile phone chat – 33

Pepsi The Model For Social Media

Speaking of the Super Bowl, many of you may have already heard that Pepsi decided to skip the Super Bowl advertising frenzy this year and put the advertising spend into Social Media.  Here also is a great article showing you how Pepsi used social media to improve the branding for Mountain Dew.  Still wondering how social media can help?  Pepsi’s switch in ad spend should give you an indication that it works.

Apple’s Steve Jobs Declares War On Google

Remember the days that Microsoft’s Bill Gates was swearing every expletive in the book at Google?  Well now it is Apple’s Steve Jobs turn.  If you are following the online arena lately you would have seen a large shift in attention to mobile search by Google.  This also includes a big push for their own mobile phone ‘Android’.  This has not made Steve Jobs and his iPhone company very happy.

Search Is Getting More Social

Google Announced on there blog last week further inclusions into their algo for social search.  Many of the changes are in line with the current online evolution of social media and it is nice to see Google adjusting with the times rather quickly.

    Google's unquestionable dominance on the internet is a matter of concern for everyone especially fellow competitors and similar business doers. Earlier it  was media baron Rupert Murdoch, now its Steve Jobs.
