7 Rules Your Company Should Apply During COVID-19

7 Rules Your Company Should Apply During COVID-19

TechWyse has been in business since 2001. We have been through the uncertainty of SARS back in 2003. We experienced the H1N1/09 “Swine Flu” back in 2009. But we have not seen anything as disruptive to the worlds population as we are currently seeing in March 2020 with COVID-19; also known as the Coronavirus.

As business owners and business executives, it is important that we adjust immediately so that we can ensure we are in the best position possible to address customer concerns and also be in the best possible position when things return to normal.

The most important thing to remember is that this is only temporary. Things will be back to normal.

Having said that, as a marketing company, here are some of the things that we recommend during this time:

1. Paid Media - Time to Review!

Paid media during COVID19

Many companies are taking drastic measures and stopping their paid media entirely. Don’t do this! Keep in mind that all paid media (including Google Ads) are built on a bidding system. This means that clicks tend to be cheaper during times like these. If your company is not capable of operating its core services at the moment then it does make sense to decrease or pause these ads.

But keep in mind that people are spending time online at this juncture, more than ever! Make sure to keep your brand and remarketing campaigns running. These are the campaigns where people are literally searching for your company and then following them around online via your remarketing campaigns. We advise you to keep these running during all times!

This is also a good time to dive into your Google Ads account and make sure you understand your campaign details at a much higher level that you may have had time to learn in the past. This is a great time to understand your geographic targeting, your device targeting and also to ensure you are doing all that you can with negative keywords.

2. Google My Business - Update the Public using Google Posts!

Google has been sending out email requests to make sure you are updating your Google My Business console. This means that if your hours have changed you should make sure they are updated.

Do you have anything specific to report to your client base? This is your opportunity to utilize this very new and very helpful service on your Google page.

3. Reputation Management - Let’s get those Reviews Coming!

Reputation Management during COVID19

This is easily the most overlooked service that companies ignore!  Don’t let negative reviews on Google impact your reputation! By getting on top of your reviews in a proactive manner people won’t notice the odd bad experience that someone may communicate.  If you didn’t have time to get on top of this before, now certainly is the best time.

TechWyse has a proactive service that solicits your existing database of clients in a positive fashion to leave some feedback about there experience. We can do the heavy lifting, but now is the time to give this the attention that it needs.

4. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

SEO during COVID19

As I mentioned earlier, other marketing opportunities like Paid Media are based on a bid system. SEO is not! Your SEO is completely dependent on both the content that you create and the ability to attract other site owners to link to it. Now is not the time to relax that effort.

Things will eventually get back to normal. If you are not doing things to get ahead then you are falling behind. Instead, we recommend taking some time to speak with whoever you strategize with and come up with unique ideas for content development.

Remember - people are searching now more than ever before. This isn’t going to stop anytime soon.

5. Website Refresh - Is It Time for a New Website?

Right time for website refresh

Your website development strategy is the virtual storefront for your business. We recommend that business reviews their website at least every 2 to 3 years. Design trends change quickly, devices that access your website change yearly. Your own company vision and description of services likely has new things it can add.

TechWyse develops a huge volume of new websites every single year. We take the heavy lifting away from most businesses. But there is still work that needs to be done by any business owner in helping develop the vision. During slower times of business, there is no better time to get this going!

Most of our website development projects take between 1 and 2 months to complete. But the most common holdup is the business owner or staff who don’t have the time to put into the project. Why not now?

6. Marketing Automation - Learn How This Can Help!

Marketing automation can help every business in different ways. Health care, law firms, mortgage, finance, self storage, manufacturing, ecommerce - whatever industry you are in!

The first step is truly understanding the power of it. Not only have we taken the time to explain what marketing automation is here, but we have also developed a simple demonstration using the simple task of ordering pizza as a sample.

7. Google Analytics Review

Google Analytics Review

If you are one of those people that has extra time to dig into the details of your business, we highly recommend digging into your Google Analytics. At TechWyse, our clients have a reporting tool called AdLuge, which helps you dig enough to learn a great deal about your visitors.

This is your opportunity to dig deeper into the patterns that your website visitors follow. You can always login to your Google Analytics account to look at those trends. Try comparing the current month to the same time last year. Look at entry and exit pages. Make sure you are aware of the where visitors ‘bounce’ out of your website with ‘bounce rate’.

You can also use this time to look into other products that help gain greater intelligence with your website traffic. We recommend AdLuge as a fantastic resource for lead generation and analytics intelligence. We also really like the product Crazy Egg for understanding actual website interface activity. The site uses ‘confetti’ and shows actual web page heat maps.

Why not use this time to get more involved?

Make no mistake about it, the spread of COVID-19 has impacted virtually everyone and is changing how we act on a daily basis. There are many things you can do for your company during this time. Do them! But also remember that this is not a time for knee jerk reactions to your business marketing plan. The virus is only temporary. Your business is not! It is important during this time to manage this properly. This is why we invite you to lean on us and utilize the intelligence that our team can provide!
