Why Is My Google Review Missing?

Why Is My Google Review Missing?

You’re browsing through your Google+ page when suddenly you realize something is missing. Where did some of your reviews go?!

This is an issue that many companies have encountered because of Google’s aggressive spam filter. Reviewers may assume that the company deleted them, however, it’s often Google’s doing.

Does it Follow the Guidelines?

When a Google review is left on your Google+ page, reviewers must beware of Google’s content guidelines.

Google have made improvements to their spam detection algorithms to improve local experiences. This goes along with their commitment to providing only useful, relevant, and helpful reviews or recommendations. This is why many of the reviews go missing – They simply don’t comply with the guidelines.

Google doesn't delete reviews because they are negative. In fact, it’s actually helpful to have negative reviews: According to an infographic posted by Search Engine Journal, 30% of consumers think reviews are fake if the company has no negative reviews.

However, if something is hateful and discriminatory, Google will remove it. Google ensures that the reviews written can provide clean, resourceful information that will benefit their users.

Keep it Relevant

Google can be suspicious of sudden increase in reviews on your Google+ page. When there is a giant jump in the number of reviews, Google may suspect that they’re spam reviews.

The best time to get reviews is when you've just finished business with them. Oftentimes businesses have clients that they've worked with in the past who haven’t left any feedback online, but it’s ill-advised to reach out to these people in bulk with a request for Google reviews.

You want your reviews to look unsuspicious and genuine, and the best way to do so is by collecting them in real time. If you've done a good job, ask for a good review! People will not only be more inclined to write a review when your services are fresh in your mind, but Google is less likely to raise concerns if they come in at a natural, steady pace.

Avoid Review Stations

Many service providers have tablets at their store to allow customers to write a review after their visit. This is a big mistake! The use of tablets can provide convenience for your users and guarantee reviews, but it doesn't comply with the Google review policies which will likely lead to the reviews being removed.

Google wants honest and unbiased reviews, which is why it’s essential to let your users write reviews at their own convenience.

Next time you ask for a Google review, remember to ask as soon as the job is done to ensure that your positive review remains on Google for all future customers to see.
