Facebook PR Company Runs Anti-Google Smear Campaign

Facebook has admitted to hiring a public relations company to influence bloggers to write stories on Google’s Social Circle; in other words a sphere of social connections Google considers when delivering search results. People love Google and it’s not surprising that the blogger who was asked to write the article chose to out Facebook instead. Bad PR 101.

Microsoft Buys Skype for $8.5 Billion

Looking to make a big leap into telecommunications Microsoft successfully purchased VoIP pioneer and juggernaut Skype last week. Obviously Skype’s 170 million connected users and 207 billion minutes of voice and video in 2010 was more than enough for Microsoft to shell out $8.5 billion in cash.

Google Announces Chromebook

In a move that could completely turn the personal computer industry on its head, Google announced that its Chromebook – all browser, no operating system, cloud-based laptop – will hit the market on June 15th. The first models will be produced by Samsung and Acer and will start at $349.
