Happy Victoria Day to everyone celebrating Queen Victoria’s birthday!  We had another exciting week in the internet marketing world which featured news about the increase in online spend, the acceptance of Google’s purchase of mobile advertising company AdMob and our own presence at SES Toronto!

Q1 2010 Internet Advertising Has Its Best Quarter Ever!

According to numbers released by the Interactive Advertising Bureau & PricewaterhouseCoopers May 13, internet advertising revenues in the US hit $5.9 billion in the first quarter of 2010.  This marks a 7.5% increase over the same time in 2009.  This represents proof of the continued lift in the US economy.  We all know that this number will continue to rise as the industry continues to grow at enormous rates.

Using Social Media To Dominate Search Results

Yahoo! shows us a nice article explaining much of what we already know about ‘reputation management’.  For companies that are dealing with any types of reputation issues online today, social media is one of the fastest ways to fill the first page of search engines with links that are both positive and informational about your company.  Talk to us if you need help on this!

Yahoo! gave us another thought provoking article by showing us a case study of Infinity, & Pepsi outlining how they are gaining emotional insights by learning about neurological research.  A great read.

Bing Redesigns Its Homepage to Reflect Contemporary Design StandardsMicrosoft made its biggest design change of the last decade this week.  The page is now much more simple and clean in its design.  It also integrates search, news, local & social networking.  The design reflects the move that many companies are making towards simplicity and the core message of the website.  Something we have been making a big push towards through our own data driven discoveries too!

Google Continues To Push Mobile Advertising With AdMobThe FTC officially accepted the recent purchase of mobile advertising vendor AdMob to Google this week.  Google reiterated its excitement on its blog this week and also stated its excitement about pushing the limits of mobile advertising once the teams are able to work together on a closer level.  Mobile is just in its infancy!

    It's great to see the new msn site, the contents are not cluttered like before but seems this is done only for the US version of msn. It's a good read about "Using social media to dominate search results" and i'm excited and getting prepared to participate in SES confernence in Toronto to make good contacts, share  knowledge and see how i can improve my business !
