Top 5 Ways To Improve Website Conversion

Web Site ConversionI have seen a large transition in the internet marketing world over the last 5 years. Back in 2003 I would take many calls every day from people asking me to get their company ranked high on search engines. As promised I would put an effective search engine optimization process together and the site would rank well. The issue I would speak mostly about even back in 2003, is that ranking high in Google isn’t going to achieve anything unless your website is conversion friendly. When I say, conversion friendly I am referring to understanding the true purpose for the website and then establish a proper sales funnel to bring your visitors through.

There is a great deal of thought behind an effectively designed website. Each company has its own set of unique goals. For most companies, however, the ultimate goal is to either generate leads or make online sales.

Here then is my list of 5 things you can do to improve website conversion.

What’s a Paper Clip Daddy?

Dad Explains Pay Per Click Advertising?

Pay Per ClickKids are great, I love em! I am blessed with 2 beautiful, intelligent daughters. In my business world I am up for any challenge. Ask me anything you want about internet marketing and I can talk with you. It is a passion and a product of over 20 years of marketing experience. Many of my close friends and associates tell me that I speak with authority and have a natural ability to quickly get to the heart of the matter. To me, it’s just me! Where I find myself digging into the inner depths of my cranium is when my children ask me WHY? Now that is tough, especially when it is followed by 2 more why’s.

The other day my youngest daughter asked me…

Sarah: “What do you do at Work Daddy?” I quickly responded

Daddy: “I a SEM manager, Sarah” Of course I knew what the next question was so, for once, I was ready.

Sarah: “What’s a SEM manager Daddy” Dad responds quickly

Daddy: “Well SEM is short form for Search Engine Marketing” A few seconds pass and the next predicable question is asked.

Sarah: “What’s Search Engine Marketing, daddy?” I’m on a role here cos I know what she is going to say, hence prepared with answers.

Daddy: “Well, Sarah, it is when you help other people that have business websites get other people to visit their website. Ummmm, when other people visit website’s the owner of the website makes more money. When they make more money they can feed their children better, give better schooling, buy better toys, etc.” My Sweet little Sarah is taking this all in. Being an internet savvy little girl herself she asks,

Sarah “How do you make people go to other people’s sites?” I admit, I thought we would move onto another subject after my answer but she wants to really know.

Is Google Analytics Your Top Choice?

What percentages of your visitors are making it to your finish line? How many visors purchase your product or make an enquiry. Once you learn your successes it’s time to work on improving weaker areas of all aspects of your site that are not performing well for you. Use it to track entire campaigns, with special filters you can extract even more data from Google Analytics to improve your AdWords spending. To me, like it or not, that’s why sister Analytics and brother AdWords are a great combination. For your PPC spending Analytics is like a fine tooth comb, especially when you take a close look at conversion keyword performance from all sources. Make good use of the information. Google, Yahoo! or MSN - Who Has The Best Cost Per Conversion - A Study

Msn, Google, YahooAs a big fan of internal statistical studies done in Internet Marketing I always enjoy when our team at TechWyse uncover findings that are not regularly reported amongst the big search engines like Google, Yahoo! and MSN. The purpose of this short article is to tell you about a recent study we recently conducted relating to conversion rates in paid search accounts for Google Adwords, Yahoo! Search and MSN AdCenter. While in my opinion the results are not as conclusive as I usually like (because of the size of the test market) I do believe that it provides some good information to chew on.

In our test we looked at the overall cost per conversion on identical pay per click campaigns on all the paid search platforms. Want to know the findings? Well here goes…

After reviewing the total amounts spent on accounts and reviewing the total cost per conversions, here is the findings of our study:

Shhhhh, I Hear an Opportunity Knocking

Want to participate in a new way of thinking? If so, you may want to try not letting it slide. A wise man once said:

A missed business opportunity is when you miss a trend or a juncture to grow and profit. Genuine job opportunities are few and far between. When the gate opens, be prepared to enter the field because there’s always lots of work to do!

Google Analytics Code Implementation - An Internet Marketing Company’s Perspective

A Bad Dream About Implementing Google Analytics Code

For the most part, implementing the necessary code on a website to accurately track data is elementary. I have found, however, that there is an exception to the rule.

Best Case Scenario

Google Analytics CodeIf you are familiar with the website you are working with, then implementing the code is a breeze. Your web team has built the website which makes it a simple task to install the urchin code appropriately. In this case there will likely be no guesswork or problem putting the code in the right place. After all, your web team built the site and they would be the best people to ensure the code is placed on absolutely every webpage and configured properly.

Worst Case Scenario

Imagine (if it hasn’t already happened to you) for a second, a company with a robust site utilizing 1000’s of pages, some php, some html, some flash and some aspx. They have come to you and asked you to setup the analtyics account properly.  Unfortunately, your team was not part of the development of this website. So your web team is given FTP access only to log on and find over 100 directories, sub domains and over 1000 .asp, .html and .php files in the root.
